Eurimages' Audentia Award 2017

Thursday 10 August

The Audentia Award Jury 2017: Rachel Schmid (Eurimages), Marie-Pierre Vallé (Wild Bunch) and Roger Garcia (Hong Kong International Film Festival)

Piazza Grande

The Council of Europe’s Eurimages Fund will join forces with Locarno Film Festival to present the second Audentia Award at Locarno Festival. The award, a cash prize of 30’000 €, has been instigated by Eurimages alongside a raft of other measures to promote greater gender equality in the European film industry. Audentia – meaning “courage” or “bravery” in Latin – reflects two vital qualities for any woman wishing to pursue a career in film directing. With the Audentia Award, Eurimages intends to celebrate women who have had the courage to make that choice, by giving their work greater visibility and inspiring other women to follow in their footsteps. Among the films in official selection at Locarno Festival, 10 feature films directed by women and majority-produced by Eurimages member countries have been pre-selected by the Festival and eligible for the Audientia Award.

The Jury is composed of Marie-Pierre Vallé (Head of Acquisitions, Wild Bunch), Rachel Schmid (representative of Eurimages in Switzerland) and Roger Garcia (Executive Director of the Hong Kong International Film Festival).
